Gift checks for a turkey or ham are a great way to say thank you!

For 35 years, the Holiday Gift Check Program has been providing companies with gift checks to distribute to their customers and employees, often as a special holiday gift or year-round incentive. These checks allow the individual to purchase any brand turkey or ham plus any other grocery items to complete a holiday meal or special celebration.

Holiday Gift Checks are business checks.

Any grocery store nationwide can accept the Holiday Gift Check and should process it as a check allowing the recipient to redeem it for the total dollar amount of the gift towards any favorite brand of turkey, ham or other grocery items. They are guaranteed by the Holiday Gift Check Program and will be cleared through Welcome State Bank, Welcome, MN. To ensure you have received an official Holiday Gift Check please click the link above to view an image of a Holiday Gift Check. Because this is an actual business check and not a gift certificate or a coupon, the individual redeeming it can purchase other items in addition to their turkey or ham purchase up to the face value of the gift check. Some recipients may choose not to purchase a ham or turkey product and that is allowed as well and the entire gift check amount should then be applied to the grocery purchase.

An official Holiday Gift Check will have many security features to certify it is a valid business check. These are listed on the back of each check and include:

  • Micro Print “To the Order of” line: Small type that appears as a dotted line when photocopied
  • Line mark (watermark): Vertical rules appear when held up to light, does not appear when photocopied
  • Security Screen: Absence of “Original Document” verbiage on the back side of the gift check

Holiday Gift Checks are accepted nationwide at most grocery stores. We have included a list of some of the more popular US grocery stores as a guide, this is just a suggested list. There are many other regional and local grocery stores and supermarkets that accept the Holiday Gift Check. As a rule of thumb, stores that process checks will typically accept the Holiday Gift Check. Each store does retain the right to determine if they accept any check. For your Canadian employees, Holiday Gift Check offers a Canadian Holiday Gift Check.

Holiday Gift Checks are business checks; they should be handled as such and not cleared as a consumer check via an ACH transaction at the Point of Sale. It is a negotiable security that your stores will deposit with other business or payroll checks. They are guaranteed by the Holiday Gift Check Program and will be cleared through South Metro Federal Credit Union, Prior Lake, MN. Because this is an actual check and not a gift certificate/coupon, the individual redeeming it should be allowed to purchase other items in addition to their turkey or ham purchase up to the face value of the check. Some recipients may choose not to purchase a ham or turkey product and that is allowed as well and the entire gift check amount should be applied to the grocery purchase.

Valid checks will have many of the security features that you are already familiar with. These are listed on the back of each check and include:

  • MicroPrint “To the Order of” line: Small type that appears as a dotted line when photocopied
  • Line mark (watermark): Vertical rules appear when held up to light, does not appear when photocopied
  • Security Screen: Absence of “Original Document” verbiage on the back side of the gift check
